Evolving Our Communications

For over two decades, beginning in 2002, TeamSpeak has been the backbone of DigitalThemePark’s voice communications. It has served our community with reliability, clarity, and consistency through countless flights, events, and collaborative projects. We want to recognize that long history and extend genuine appreciation for how well TeamSpeak has supported DigitalThemePark and its members over the years.

At the same time, our platform ecosystem has steadily evolved. Since 2017, DigitalThemePark has been using Discord extensively for community coordination, announcements, training organization, text chat, and file sharing. With it already embedded into nearly every aspect of our daily operations, the remaining gap has been voice communications. Migrating our primary VoIP usage to Discord is a natural next step that consolidates tools, reduces friction for new and existing members, and allows us to take advantage of modern features and ongoing platform development.

This transition is about simplification and alignment, not replacement out of necessity. Discord’s voice services now meet the reliability and quality standards we require, while offering tighter integration with the rest of our community workflows. Moving forward, Discord will become the primary voice platform for official DigitalThemePark activities, training sessions, and events.

Importantly, our TeamSpeak server is not being retired. We understand that some groups prefer its efficient flow, familiarity, or specific use cases. It will remain available and supported for those groups who wish to continue using it. Our goal is flexibility and continuity, ensuring that every group can communicate effectively in the way that works best for them.

As always, this change is driven by the community and for the community. We appreciate everyone who has helped shape DigitalThemePark’s environment over the years and look forward to continuing that collaboration on Discord, while keeping TeamSpeak available for those who rely on it.
