A Discover-Africa Series Achievement

From the ancient pyramids of Giza to the highlands of Ethiopia, our flights follow one of the world’s great natural landmarks on a journey through some of Africa’s most dramatic scenery. The flight begins over the deserts of northern Egypt before the Nile Valley appears below, a narrow ribbon of green surrounded by an otherwise unforgiving landscape. Follow the river south and watch the scenery unfold with sprawling agricultural fields, villages and cities clustered along the water, ancient landscapes, and the unmistakable contrast between fertile Nile country and the vast desert beyond.

The broad Nile Valley gradually gives way to the rugged terrain of Ethiopia, where deep valleys, rolling plateaus, and mountainous highlands replace the flat desert landscape. Keep your eyes outside the cockpit as the terrain rises and the colors and textures of the landscape change beneath you. This is a journey through the landscapes that have shaped civilizations for thousands of years, from the sands of Egypt to the highlands that feed one of the world’s great rivers.

For the aviator, it’s less about reaching a destination and more about watching an entire continent change beneath the wings. Follow the river, keep an eye on the terrain, and experience the extraordinary transition from the lush heart of Africa to one of the world’s great deserts, all connected by one remarkable ribbon of water.
